Highlands is one of the established neighborhoods in Alpine. Most of the homes were built in the 1970s and 1980s. Lot sizes are between 1/2 acre to 3 and home sizes start at  1,500 and go into the 3,000s. Most are single-story ranch homes. The neighborhood is within walking distance of the Albertson's Shopping Center.
