When I was a kid there was nothing better than 4th of July in Coronado. We would create large floating parties by tying multiple boats together in Glorieta Bay. In addition to the parade the Navy provided an airshow to keep us entertained during the day. My favorite were the paratroopers with colored flares on their boots. While they don't do quite as much today this is still one of the best place to spend the 4th of July or better yet make a couple of day of it/

San Diego 4th of July Fireworks Pro-Tips
If you are going to the beach areas so is everyone else. Plan to do something for at least one hour after the fireworks end so that you can avoid being stuck in traffic of everyone going home at the same time.
Want to see Fireworks without the traffic. Viejas Casino & Resort have a Freedom Festival on July 3rd from 6:30-10:30 PM with Entertainment, Food, Fun and Fireworks. Viejas Casino and Resort is located at 5000 Willow Road Alpine, CA 91901
Be safe, don't stop on freeways or roadways to watch the fireworks.
If you want to have a great vantage point and not the crowd get on a boat and cruise San Diego Bay. The reflection off the water is amazing! And depending on where you are, you get to see multiple locations at the same time.
Since I am traffic sensitive one year we used Priceline and stayed at Lowes Coronado. It was actually pretty reasonable. I didn't have to worry about driving, we enjoyed the festivities, they have a shuttle that goes to the Village and we had great vantage point for all the fireworks. I am sure there are other deals to be had at locations across the county.
If you have a fireworks location that is not listed please let us know so we can add it.
